Titus AR Denarius. Barbaric imitation(?). Uncertain mint, after AD 80. IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M, laureate head right / TR P IX IM XV COS VIII P P (sic), elephant walking left. Cf. RIC 115. 1.72g, 17mm, 6h.
Good Fine. Porous metal, chip to rev. edge at 9h. Old cabinet tone.
The error in the reverse legend, coupled with the unusual positioning of the last letter, suggest the possibility of this being a barbarous imitation of the rather fine elephant type struck for Titus.
