GREAT BRITAIN. British Royal Family Gold Portrait Medals, ND (ca. 1972).
Eimer-unlisted. Set of 6 39.5 x 51 mm oval medals with an anepigraphic portrait on one side and names and titles of the subjects on the reverse. The reverses are inscribed: "Her Majesty / The Queen", "His Royal Highness / The Duke of Edinburgh", "His Royal Highness / The Prince Of Wales", "Her Royal Highness / The Princess Anne", "His Royal Highness / The Prince Andrew", and "His Royal Highness / The Prince Edward". The reverse of each is hallmarked "JP" for the manufacturer (John Pinches Ltd.), A crown and 22 for the metal purity (22K), a Lion's head indicating it was produced in London, and the date stamp "r" which corresponds to 1972. The medals weigh between 70.4 and 80.4 grams each, for a total weight of 465.8 grams of 22K gold. House in a claret and royal blue gate-fold presentation case. Some of the medals have minor abrasions on the highest points of the portraits. BRILLIANT PROOF.
