MXXXXVI. / QVI GERARDI ALSATII / PRIMI DVCIS HEREDITARII / LOTHARINGIAE / FVIT PATER., brown, hints of red, plain edge, Unc. Gérard d'Alsace (1030-1070) was lord of Châtenois, then duke of Lorraine from 1048 to 1070. He married Hedwige of Namur (1030-1075) in 1055. This medal belongs to a series struck by Ferdinand de Saint-Urbain at Nancy, representing the dukes and duchesses of Lorraine.
