Heavy Iron Breastplate. Europe 1720-1815 AD. Full size, heavy "bullet proof" construction, not the light parade armor you see offered on the Internet. Hand forged Iron with button lugs for shoulder straps and belt guard at waist. Edges turned out and perforated to attach backing. Typical armor used in the Seven years War, the French Revolution, and the Napoleonic War. It also made appearances in the American Revolution and with the pirates of the Caribbean. The breastplate were the last piece of armor worn as fuller suits of armor were being abandoned in favor of mobility. These heavy breastplates were capable of stopping a musket ball. Stable brown patina. Approximately 19" tall, 14.5" wide. Makes a great display either self-standing on a table or hanging from a wall. Rarely privately offered. Surprisingly massive.
