ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 165-42 BC. AR tetradrachm (30mm, 16.37 gm, 12h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. New Style coinage, struck 91-90 BC, Zenokles and Armoxenos, magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with vine scroll, leaping griffin and quadriga / A-ΘE, magistrate names ΞE-NO KΛHΣ APMO-ΞHNOΣ, owl standing right, head facing, on overturned amphora, dolphin and trident to right. Cf. Thompson 1066-1109. Struck on a broad flan in sound metal.
