Republic gold 8 Escudos 1849 So-ML XF45 NGC, Santiago mint, KM105, Onza-1678. DICIEMBRE edge. A decent type coin with limited wear and contact marks and no planchet flaws worth mentioning. Starting in 1843, the Santiago mint included the corresponding month on each coin in the 8 Escudos' series. Rather than the date in which the coin was struck, the month indicates the date in which the gold entered the mint.
