Philip IV gold Cob 2 Escudos ND (1621-1665)-NR AU, Nuevo Reino mint, KM14.1, Restrepo-M50. The N and R of the mintmark are clearly visible, however all other identifying peripheral detail is off the flan. While we're unable to date this piece definitively, the style does seem most similar to those attributed to assayer Ramos (1642-65). A lustrous example of this early gold type, with light encrustation on the surfaces that almost certainly ties this piece to a recovered shipwreck.
