George I nickel Proof Essai 10 Lepta 1912 PR66 NGC, Paris mint, KM-E26, Karamitsos-T79. A rare pattern of the adopted design that features the addition of "ESSAI" along the reverse edge (holdered facing outward) at 2 o'clock and no mint privy marks flanking the date. Upon close inspection, the surfaces appear essentially as-made, with soft cameo contrast to both sides and several natural flecks in the metal that likely preclude a finer grade. Presently the finest certified example of the type in this Proof classification.
