Republic Proof Essai 4 Reales 1893 PR66 NGC, KM-Pn15. A very rare pattern issue, dated the year prior to the adoption of the circulating design (KM168.1) and only differing in its absence of the "H" mintmark of the Heaton Mint as well as the addition of the words ESSAI between the fineness and date on the reverse. Very well preserved as the grade suggests, with light golden tone over highly mirrored surfaces. A significant coin for the numismatist attempting to assemble an important collection of 19th century Guatemalan issues.
