Republic gold 10 Pesos 1872 Go-S AU58 NGC, Guanajuato mint, KM413.5. The first of three dates of this denomination struck at the Guanajuato Mint, and like the two dates that follow, extremely rare in any grade, with only a few examples known. Of those, this piece is almost certainly the finest extant, and is presently the only piece certified by either NGC or PCGS. While we're aware of no other recent appearances at auction, an example cataloged as XF is recorded in a private census produced in 2004, but are not aware of its current whereabouts. An ideal example of the type, the surfaces of this piece gleam with natural reflectivity and the design is fully rendered. Evidence of brief circulation is evident in the fields, however no marks harm the appearance. As a type, missing from Norweb altogether, which further highlights its rarity. A landmark offering for the collector of Mexico's Republic issues and as such, a coin that is destined to set records when the hammer falls.
