Chihuahua. Revolutionary copper Pattern 5 Centavos 1915 AU55 Brown NGC, KM612, Guthrie-Bothamley:59. Obv: National eagle; below, crossed oak and laurel sprays; M. SEVILLA signature at bottom. Rev: CHIHUAHUA / 1915 / V / CENTAVOS; below, open wreath with M.S. atop center bow. Struck by the Constitutionalist Army and "undoubtedly a pattern" according to the Guthrie-Bothamley reference, with very few known. As is the case with all known survivors of this issue, this example appears to have briefly circulated, perhaps out of necessity, but the surfaces remain wholesome, with no major flaw and deep red-brown coloration. A fascinating study-piece from this turbulent period.
