Republic silver Pattern 10 Reales 1855 AU55 NGC, Paris mint, KM-Pn7. Engraved by Louis-Charles Bouvet and struck in medal rotation. Extremely rare, this charming pattern is a wholly original presentation, lightly circulated with handling commensurate with the grade, but vividly toned in a variety of bright hues along the peripheries. Some surface marks are certainly present, although few are individually bothersome and generally blend with the handful of wispy hairlines. The details remain sharp, even along the highpoints where there is some friction, due to an exacting strike and high rims that seem to have absorbed most of the circulation wear. Seldom available at auction, this piece is deserving of close inspection by specialists of South American pattern issues.
