Peru
Republic copper Pattern Centimo 1855-LIMA MS64 Brown NGC, Philadelphia mint, KM-Pn7. Engraved by James Longacre and part of the 1855 series of Peruvian patterns that are now considered the first coinage for a foreign nation ever struck at the U.S. Mint. Attractively designed and preserved, with subtle multicolored tone in the fields and tiny remnants of original mint red around portions of the design on the reverse. Two minor errors are also of note, but have minimal affect on the eye-appeal; the first is a small planchet clip and the second is a slightly misaligned reverse die. Altogether, a scarce and highly collectible type.
