Isabel II Specimen Pattern 10 Reales 1855 XF Details (Tooled) PCGS, Madrid mint, Plain edge, cf. Calico pg. 775. Engraved by Fernández Pescador. A rare unadopted pattern, pictured in Calico without the final digit in the date although here offered with a full 1855 date present in the module. The surfaces are lightly porous, whether from environmental exposure or a poorly prepared planchet from a brief run of patterns is unclear, but someone began to make an effort to smooth the fields and quit when they realized it was not going to clean up to their satisfaction.
