Caracas. Provincial 1/4 Real 1822 VF20 NGC, Caracas mint, KM-C31. Variety with 8 long and 16 short rays. An exceptionally well centered strike, this charming piece is lightly toned with worn--yet problem-free--surfaces. Difficult to encounter in any grade, an NGC F15 of the same variety--and not nearly as well centered--realized a hammer of $850 in our 2016 Long Beach auction (sale 3049, lot 31688).
