MONOGRAPHS. [Cornell] Ramage, Andrew (ed.), preface by Jerry Theodorou. Emblems of Authority. Greek and Roman Coins from Two Alumni Collections. Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University. Ithaca 1994. Exhibition March 25- June 12, 1994, of coins from the collections of Jerry Theodorou and David B. Simpson. Small 4to (21.5x28cm), illustrated blue card covers as issued; 34 pages including 11 plates. Slight shelf wear. Very Good to Fine.
A note from BCD: The two subjects displayed in this joint effort are "Hellenistic Rulers" and "Mythological Scenes". Silver Tetradrachms compose the first part of the exhibit whereas Roman Provincial bronzes constitute the second. Twenty-three years later the "dedicated and generous alumni" are grown up men with families but at least the first one has not given up his love for Greek coins. This writer feels privileged to be his friend and be able to meet with him to "talk coins" when circumstances permit.
