A note from BCD: A 1949 Zurich exhibition at the art museum of the city. As usual, the tireless Leo Mildenberg was behind it and the list of coin "lenders" on p. 4 is quite enlightening. Famous collectors of ancient coins such as Käpelli, Niggeler and Voirol, feature side by side with Bob Hecht and the Brussels, Paris and Vienna cabinets. Those were the days when the state worked closely with dealers and collectors to advance the idea of collecting as a noble pastime. This catalogue has the added charm of having belonged to the famous Walter Niggeler with his signature on the cover and his discreet underlining of some words in the text.
