Cuba Banco Nacional De Cuba 10 Pesos ND (1905) Pick 68p Face Proof. A most attractive example of the largest denomination in the planned 1905 emission from the National Bank of Cuba, this 10 Peso note features a large oval portrait of Tomas Estrada Palma. Born in 1835, he served as President of the Republic of Cuba in arms during the Ten Years War (1868-1878). He was captured by the Spanish and sent into exile. He made his way to New York and worked with Jose Marti and upon Marti's death assumed leadership of the Cuban Revolutionary Party. On December 31, 1901 he was elected President of the Republic of Cuba and served from 1902-1906. He passed away in 1908, three years after this note was scheduled for introduction. This pretty black-and-white proof includes very wide right and bottom selvedges with the bottom selvedge including several printers' annotations. PMG has noted some minor paper damage but this is confined solely to the bottom selvedge. PMG About Uncirculated 53. HID08701242017
