Honduras Aguan Navigation and Improvement Company 10 Pesos 25.6.1886 Pick S105. A storied note from a company, which tried to do what many other organizations had tried to do at that time in the face of growing commerce. President Luis Bográn Barahona (featured on the note) and his company wanted to build a canal connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans - not in Panama as it exists today - but in Honduras. The start would be in Trujillo, where the Honduran part of the company was located and were this note was issued. Because this project required an immense amount of capital, the company issued both bonds and these banknotes for the building area. An entire series of notes, from 50 Centavos to 20 Pesos, were issued and were accepted as legal tender. Of course, as the canal today passes through Panama, we know the company folded. However, interestingly, there seemed to be an orderly redemption process, as issued notes are very elusive today, and especially in this excellent condition. All colors of the underprints and stamps remain bright against the stainless paper. Pinholes are noted. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58. HID08701242017
