Netherlands Indies Government Recepis 1 Gulden 1.4.1846 Pick 39a. An appealing, early note issued just around 50 years after the nationalization of the famed Dutch East India Company, under which all territories of the company came under Dutch government control. These Recepis notes are historically interesting, as they were issued during the time the Javasche Bank's contract had not yet been renewed and, thus, there was no official currency in circulation. Additionally, the money in circulation at the time was based on the copper guilder, while these notes were issued as silver guilder. After the Javasche Bank's authorization was renewed in 1848, most of these notes were redeemed. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20, edge and internal splits, edges trimmed. HID08701242017
