Cyprus Government of Cyprus 3 Piastres on 1 Shilling 30.8.1941 ND (1943) Pick 26. A World War II emergency overprint issue of Pick 20 notes brought about by a severe coin shortage precipitated by a loss of a shipment of bronze coins due to enemy action. The overprint was on both sides of the note. This first emergency issue for Cyprus was unsuccessful, as the overprint could be removed and the note then could circulate at the higher 1 Shilling value. PMG About Uncirculated 53, with minor rust.
