Cyprus Government of Cyprus £5 15.3.1958 Pick 36a. The 1958 £5 note is the only one issued with that date and the only one to carry the signature of T.S.C. McIlwain as Commissioner of Currency (Account Manager). It can be assumed that the previous issues of that denomination were almost exhausted from circulation and Treasury reserves and given the fact that the 1957 note was issued in low print run, there was a need for that denomination in the market. Yet, it is known that only part of the print run was actually released to general circulation. Most recently we sold a PCGS Apparent 25 for $940. This piece is far superior with a nice, About Uncirculated appearance. The colors are vibrant and the paper bright. PMG Choice Very Fine 35. HID08701242017
