Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-103, T-10, High R.5 -- Tooled, Improperly Cleaned -- NCS. AG Details. Tompkins Die State 1/1. A readily affordable example of the sought-after 1794 half dollar issue, here represented by a scarce die variety. The coin is nickel-gray with scattered hairlines overall and a cluster of tool marks above the eagle on the reverse. The obverse is essentially worn smooth save for the outline of the portrait and a faint remnant of the date. The reverse shows most of the peripheral legends, but the eagle and wreath are almost entirely worn away.
