Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-116, T-11, R.4, Fine 15 NGC. Tompkins Die State 2/2. The deep-gray fields contrast boldly with lightly toned, silver-gray devices for an attractive "circulation cameo" look. Struck from a late state of the dies, the coin shows heavy die clashing beneath the rich patina and die cracks around the obverse stars and LIBERTY. On the reverse, a sharp extra row of clashed dentils is visible above UNITED. A tiny rim indent below star 15 is the sole mark of note on this Choice Fine example.
