Bust Half Dollars
1814 50C O-103, R.1, MS62 PCGS. A bold, ridgelike die line from the end of the scroll to the eagle's left wing is the pick-up point that identifies the O-103 variety. Other die lines exist on the coin to confirm the variety below the bust drapery. This example is brilliant with strong silver luster across both sides. Struck from multiply clashed dies, the peripheral elements are drawn to the rim to confirm the late state of the dies. Nevertheless, crisp definition on the central elements adds to the appeal.
