1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet, Ligatured NE, VF35 NGC. Noe-8.2, W-740, Salmon 7-E, R.6. 67.8 grains. A late die state of Noe-8 with a large die break below GL and an odd, upward-pointing flag on 5 in the date. Struck on a slightly wavy, irregularly shaped flan but well-centered on both the obverse and reverse. This is an attractive and glossy silver-gray example with faint blue overtones. Smoothly worn, especially at 2, but still Choice for the VF level. The Monogram NE (Ligatured NE) variety is listed on page 41 of the 2018 Guide Book. Census: 1 in 35, 18 finer (8/17).
