(1785) Bar Copper -- Obverse Scratched -- NGC Details. AU. W-8520. Six short scrapes above U and S on the obverse monogram account for the Details grade. This is otherwise a smooth and appealing piece, with chestnut-tan toning and few marks other than those cited by NGC. All original Bar coppers are orphans of sort among Colonial issues, issued without a date and of uncertain origin. Their simple design and buttonlike motifs always have appeal for collectors.
