Large Cents
1793 1C Liberty Cap, S-13, B-20, Low R.4 -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. Breen Die State I. The Liberty Cap is the rarest of the three first-year large cent types and is highly sought-after in all grades and varieties. Sheldon-13 shows the L in LIBERTY nearly touching the beads. Almost all known examples of this variety are well-circulated with environmental impairments, and only a single Uncirculated piece is known. The present coin displays bold detail and clear legends. The border beading is complete around both sides. The surfaces display moderate granularity and are deep chocolate-brown. Scattered marks include an old cut on Liberty's jaw. A well-centered and even strike is a hallmark of this piece. Our EAC grade VG10.
