Proof Seated Half Dollars
1870 50C PR67 PCGS. Gorgeous aqua patina on each side surrounds silver and pink centers, and the proof strike is full throughout, save for a hint of softness on the lower-left eagle's claw, a problematic area often encountered on this Christian Gobrecht-inspired design. Among the few finest survivors from a mintage of 1,000 proofs. Lower grade examples are available, but that availability trails off significantly at the PR66 level, and at this grade this is the only piece so graded. None are finer at either service (7/17). There are no obvious contact marks on either side of this Superb Gem.
