Morgan Dollars
1880-CC $1 Reverse of 1878, 8 Over 7, VAM-7, GSA, MS66 PCGS. A Hit List 40 Variety. The 8 is repunched over a 7, the remnant of the lower part of the 7 apparent as a dash below the 8. This variety was discovered by Ted Clark in 1970. The reverse with its parallel arrow feathers and small CC mint mark was discovered by Howard Newcomb in 1913. The surfaces are brilliant, as are most GSA dollars, with thick mint frost. A few faint grease stains are seen on the obverse, struck into the coin when produced, but the only mark of any note is an angling abrasion on the lower portion of the eagle's breast.
