1881-CC $1 GSA MS67 NGC. The 1881-CC is a sought-after date in high grade, particularly in original GSA holders. Superb Gem GSA coins are major rarities. NGC and PCGS combined list only 36 submissions in MS67 (including Plus- and Star-designated pieces), with none finer (8/17). This example is nearly perfect in its preservation, showing brilliant, frosty mint luster and sharp design elements. The cheek and field are clean in the prime focal plains of the obverse. We have previously offered only eight Superb Gem GSA 1881-CC dollars, with a recent MS67+ example realizing nearly $20,000 (Heritage, 4/2017). Census: 35 in 67 (3 in 67+, 1 in 67 ★), 0 finer (8/17).
