Early Half Eagles
1813 $5 BD-1, R.2, AU58 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/b, lightly clashed. BD-1 is a popular type-coin issue, being the more plentiful of the two 1813 half eagle varieties. The surviving population is estimated to be between 450 and 650 coins, although the availability declines significantly in high grade. This near-Mint representative offers sharp detail and satiny yellow-gold luster. A cartwheel effect remains discernible despite minor field chatter.
