Liberty Eagles
1893-CC $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 1-A. Boasting a low mintage of 14,000 coins and an average grade of AU50, it should come as little surprise that the 1893-CC ten dollar is as elusive as it is in near-Mint condition. Doug Winter proposed in 2001 that six to eight Uncirculated pieces survived. The certification figures reflect a survivorship only slightly higher than that 16 year-old estimate. This lustrous apricot-gold eagle has the appearance of a finer coin. Well-struck on the upper stars, fletchings, and claws, and minimally abraded. A single tick occurs on the chin. Census: 46 in 58, 14 finer (7/17).
