Large Cents
1794 1C Head of 1794, S-27, B-9, R.5 -- Tooled -- PCGS Genuine. Fine Details. Our EAC grade: sharpness of Fine 15, net VG8. Breen Die State III, with a crack in the left obverse field. The olive-brown surfaces of this near-Condition Census cent, the 13th finest in both the Bland and Noyes lists, exhibits considerable maroon and steel patina with light scratches in the left and right obverse fields, and with minor handling marks and dents on the reverse. The eye appeal of this piece outweighs its grading trivialities. We agree with both Bill Noyes and Del Bland that the sharpness is Fine 15, and disagree with both about the net grade. Noyes calls this piece VG7 and Bland suggests it is VG10. We are between those two extremes.
