Large Cents
1796 1C Reverse of 1795, NC-2, B-31, R.7, VG10 NGC. Our EAC grade: sharpness of VG8, net Good 5. Minor roughness is noted on the deep olive surfaces. Unobjectionable scratches are blended with the surrounding surface. The obverse is complete with a full date and LIBERTY, along with some remaining hair details. The reverse has the tops of the legend disappearing into the border.
Our EAC grade places this piece fourth in the NC-2 census, although it is unlisted in either the Bland or Noyes lists. Bland recorded seven known examples in 2000, and Noyes recorded nine known in 2007.
