Liberty Double Eagles
1850 $20 AU50 NGC. The popular 1850 double eagle, with a mintage of 1.17 million pieces, is the first year of the regular issue for the type and denomination. It is one of the more available dates for the type and is usually seen in VF to AU condition. This AU50 example displays bright yellow-gold surfaces with traces of luster in the recessed areas. Sharp definition is visible on the design elements, though portions of Liberty's hair are soft. The usual marks scattered about are not in the least offensive. A nice piece for a first-year type set.
