Liberty Double Eagles
1851 $20 AU55 NGC. With an ample supply of bullion from the California gold fields, more than 2 million Liberty double eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1851. Most of the coins circulated heavily at the time of issue and few have survived in high grade. This impressive Choice AU specimen displays some light wear on the well-detailed design elements and the pleasing orange-gold surfaces are moderately abraded.
