So-Called Dollars
1876 Nevada Dollar, HK-19, R.5, PR61 PCGS. Silver, 38 mm. Julian CM-36a. This so-called dollar, designed by William Barber, was minted from Nevada-mined silver ore. The total production was 2,256 pieces that were sold for $1.25 each at the Nevada Building during the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. This lightly hairlined piece has brilliant, untoned silver surfaces with precise design definition.
