BRITISH COINS FROM VARIOUS PROPERTIES

BRITISH COINS, British Iron-Age, REGINI (?), uninscribed issues, Quarter-Stater, wreath and line crossed by spike, cog-wheel in centre, rev. horse right with moon-shaped rump, spoked wheel above and below, pellets around, 0.85g/2h (ABC –; BMC –; VA –; S –). Good fine, probably UNIQUE £500-600

---

The present specimen probably bears most resemblance to the 'Compton Corn-Ear' quarter-stater (ABC 599). The composition of the obverse is very similar, as is the detailing of the horse with its round fore-parts and crescent-shaped rump. That said, the ladder mane and field ornaments are different
