small hole at right, otherwise very fine and as an issued note, exceptionally rare. Poyais was a Scottish settlement on the coast of present day Honduras founded by Gregor MacGregor, a colourful hero of the liberation of South America from Spain a few years earlier. It ultimately proved catastrophic for both investors and settlers, leaving only worthless land grants and bonds as testimony to this ill-fated venture, together with approximately five or so one dollar notes,good very fine.
