National Bank of Egypt, obverse (4) and reverse (3) archival photographs showing various designs for 50 piastres notes, c.1924, various obverse designs, most of which feature a single camel at centre, with Pharaonic heads at top left and right, the reverses are all similar, with a Pharaoh at centre(Pick unlisted), This group of designs show that serious thought went into the 50 piastre note of 1923-24 before it was scrapped. No 50 piastre was issued in 1924, the next being over ten years later in 1935. I imagine the designers were very relieved when the design was transferred to the £1 instead. One of the examples here is particularly interesting, as it features space for a dedicated watermark. This is the first time this is seen on an Egyptian design (7).
Estimate: £1,200.00 - £1,600.00
