El Banco de Espana, an essay/trial obverse and reverse 1000 pesetas, Burgos, 18 July 1937, dark blue and white with a pink and green central guilloche, value at centre, low left and top right. Portrait at right of a bearded man wearing a ruff, possibly Alvaro de Bazan and more likely to be the Genoese Admiral Andrea Doria who fought for the Spanish and the Holy League against the Ottoman navy at the battle of Lepanto, reverse grey-green and brown, battle scene at centre, value at each corner(Pick unrecorded), printed in Milan, uncirculated, attractive and very rare.
