Lambayeque Crustacean Vessel from Peru, ca. 700 - 1300 A.D. A fine Lambayeque (Sican) bridge vessel from Peru, ca. 700 - 1300 A.D. This choice blackware example is 7-1/4" high and has two spouts connected with the typical bridge handle. A large hand-modeled crustacean is draped over the top of the chamber. It is surrounded by a pair of fish to the front and a pair of crabs to the rear, with stylized serpent heads projecting from the base of the spouts. The flared base is incised with traditional geometric designs. In excellent condition, with good mineral deposits. Ex Llerena collection. Value range: $500 - $800.
