Trajan Decius. ; Trajan Decius; 249-251 AD, Hadrianopolis Sebaste, Phrygia, AE 31.5-33, 23.51g. RPC-900 (2 spec.). Obv: ?V ? G ? ? ???? ?EKIOC Bust laureate, draped, cuirassed r. Rx: A?PIANO?O E - ?I APX A?PIANOV B around, C - EB across field, Tyche standing l. holding rudder and cornucopia. Ex CNG 35, 20 September 1995, lot 1102; ex Lindgren III, 1993, no. 591. This coin cited and illustrated by RPC-907, pl. 62, 907/2. Apparently one of only three coins known of Trajan Decius from Hadrianopolis Sebaste, all coming from the same die pair; the other two are RPC's specimen 1 (Afyon-1756) and another specimen formerly in the Behnen Collection, Berk 201, 13 July 2017, lot 401. RPC could not read the magistrate's name on this reverse die, but it is clear (Hadrianos B) on the other Behnen specimen which was unknown to RPC, and can also be made out on the present specimen with the coin in hand. Ex Bill Behnen Collection.Full round flan, brown patina, some cleaning marks. EF
