Probus, 276-282. Antoninianus (Bronze, 24 mm, 4.02 g, 6 h), Rome, early 277 to early 278. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG Radiate bust of Probus to left in imperial mantle, holding eagle-tipped scepter. Rev. ADVENTVS PROBI AVG / RΓ Probus on horseback to left, raising his right hand in salute and holding long scepter in his left; to left at feet, captive. Cohen 54. Estiot / Gysen: L'atelier de Rome au début du règne de Probus, in: RN 162, 2006, p. 254/5. RIC 160. A very rare variety. Sharply struck and with a pleasant brown patina. Extremely fine.
