MACEDON. Skione. Circa 400-350 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 10 mm, 1.67 g, 12 h). Female head to right, wearing sphendone decorated with three X-shaped ornaments and triple-pendant earring. Rev. ΣKI Dove standing right on ground line. SNG ANS 718 corr. (dove not eagle). SNG Copenhagen 322. A superb small bronze of great beauty. Two minor die breaks, otherwise, extremely fine.

From a German collection, assembled since the 1960s.

This is an exceptionally attractive Chalkous. It shows virtually no signs of wear and the quality of the die engraving is remarkable.
