Kings of Lydia. Alyattes II, circa 610-560 BC. Trite (Electrum, 13 mm, 4.73 g), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes mint. WALWEL (in Lydian) Heads of two lions, with open jaws and staring eye, facing each other with an inscription between them; only the head facing to left is visible on this coin. Rev. Double incuse square. Weidauer Group XVII, 93-4. Rare. Clear, but with an obverse struck from a rusty die. Very fine.
