Seleukid Kings of Syria. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.02 g, 9 h), struck in the name of Alexander III "the Great", uncertain mint in the area of Babylonia, c. 310. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, monogram of ΔΑ; below throne, but above strut, ΘΕ. Price 3786. A clear, attractive and toned coin, as such a very rare Seleucid issue. Some scratches and surface roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
