ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his right on his bow; to left, monogram. ESM 158. SC 380.2b. SNG Spaer 300. Lightly toned and with a remarkably fine portrait. About extremely fine.
From the Molard Collection, Switzerland.
The engraver who produced the dies for this coin was unusually talented, especially given the small size of the finished coin. The figure of Apollo on the reverse is made with a delicacy and care that is far in advance of those on many full-sized tetradrachms.
