Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 23 mm, 4.48 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 10th officina, 425-429. D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Theodosius facing, his head turned slightly to the right, holding spear over his right shoulder and shield, ornamented with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left. Rev. SALVS REI - PVBLICAE I / CONOB Two nimbate emperors, the larger on the left Theodosius II and the smaller on the right Valentinian III, both wearing consular robes and holding a mappa in their right hands and a cross in their left; above, between them, star. DOC 376. Depeyrot 79/1. MIRB 23b. RIC 237. Sharp and lustrous. Reverse slightly doublestruck, with some very minor flan faults and a very minor edge bend, otherwise, extremely fine.
